Amarrass Records has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fair Trade Music International to become the latest recognized supporter of the important movement.
Based in New Delhi, India and Madison, Wisconsin, Amarrass Records is an independent and fair trade record label committed to delivering a music and cultural experience that is inclusive, accessible and sustainable.
It is striving to create an environment that encourages and nourishes the creative spirit of musicians and music lovers and reinvigorate traditional forms of expression through music and the arts. The staging of world-class musical events, music production & distribution, and education is part of this process.
Amarrass Records has released eleven albums, holds a major annual festival (The Amarrass Music Festival) and has had its artists featured in The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone India, BBC Radio and Songlines, among others. Since 2009, it has been led by co-founders Ankur Malhotra and Ashutosh Sharma.
Fair Trade Music International welcomes Amarrass Records to the movement and looks forward to having them contribute to a sustainable and equitable music economy.
